A reality show based on a post disaster world. Never before has a reality show been my style, but THIS! This is an awesome concept. Just finished watching season 1. As my brother said, the science is very interesting. Outside of that it was hard for me to believe that people would really act like that, so very angry, while playing pretend on day 3. Then again the asshattery of people never fails to amaze me, so I could be naive. I figure they were given roles to play. I also am wondering if the fighting is real? My guess is that it is wrestling style violence. They are actually getting hurt, but it is staged to look worse then it is. The health pain though-ouch that looks real. But from what I understand passing a kidney stone would have been just as painful in the real world, albeit you would be laying in a clean bed with pillows while dealing with it.

Season 2 seems more fake in the anger department but even more real in the science and dirt of it all. What have I learned? My family, who everyone wants to visit if zombies attack would never ever survive in a post apocalyptic world. Not only would we not have the science or mechanical know how-I sure don't think we could haul decaying pigs (OMG that's nasty!) and cut them up to make oil. Certainly not in a pretend world!

In real life? hmmm since I can't smell I think it would be up to me and my mom. Until this episode I pretty much thought she would get in the way. However she does do as told in an emergency, and she is pretty tough when it comes to gross things that have to be done....so "The Colony's" has revealed some pluses in my mom's character.

What do you think Derick? Could you handle those pigs? I think I would end up not able to do it.

On that note. The first person to volunteer for the job was the model. She is also one of two people that did the butchering. One lady was dead set against doing it, later on she was upset that the model washed her hair with their good water.

While I can conceed the point, I figure the person that did the nastiest job they are ever going to have on this show unless they get down to decaying humans beings has earned the right to a half gallon of water to clean herself with!!

So. My mission in the next year or so? Convince my mom to buy a generator!!!!!

I will try to keep this updated again. Between faire and summertime I just let it go. My pool and a good book seemed to take up all my time.

Laundry and Grey's Anatomy, plus a nap. 5 more days till school starts and my 18 unit semester begins. Resting while I can, and taking care of my back, which is very unhappy with the cold. Hopefully the pictures get more interesting....

My fluffer makes everything better. Even the presence of the asshat. I am not sure why she likes me or tolerates me...I must be a lot of work, but the best thing I ever picked up at faire is Nicole. My life would honestly be greatly changed for the worse without her joy.

I am the parking queen. Even the papers have articles about the horrible parking at school. I always manage a great spot. Today's spot was 3 lanes away from the entrance to the art exhibit I went to. Were I also won $100 towards a new tattoo.

I am at the point that if I have to think to hard about what to wear...I won't go, but I love the 60's so maybe I will put some effort in....nice thing is that in the end no makeup and natural hair are gonna be just fine if I get lazy!!

Saucy Sisters Soft Baked Bavarian Pretzels
Home-baked Bavarian pretzels are even easier to make that you’ve ever imagined. Unlike other yeast breads, soft pretzels don’t need a traditional rising/fermenting time, so you can have fresh, hot pretzels coming out of the oven within an hour. Happy Oktoberfeasting!*
1 ½ c. very warm water
1 Tbsp. yeast
¼ c. sugar
3-4 cups flour
4 T. baking soda
10 cups water
1 egg white
¼ c. coarse kosher salt*
Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
In a large bowl, whisk together water and yeast. Stir in the sugar and set aside 1-2 minutes until the mixture is foamy. Stir in 3 cups of the flour. Begin kneading the dough, adding additional flour until it is soft, but not at all sticky. On a lightly floured surface, roll a palm-sized ball of dough into a long rope, approximately 12 inches long. Twist into a pretzel shape. Set aside on a lightly floured surface and allow to rise slightly while you finish twisting the other pretzels.
Bring water and baking soda to a rolling boil in a large saucepan. Gently place pretzels in soda bath for 10 seconds on each side. Remove, brush with egg white and sprinkle with coarse kosher salt. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake pretzels in preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until nicely browned. Serve warm, with Saucy Sisters Oktoberfest Pretzel Dipping Sauce.

So, I have had a blog on live journal off and on since 2004. I spent time this morning looking at my first live journal blog from 2005. Though it still tended to be busy when I was angry, it was filled with way more info then my current one, which I only use when pissed off. Which in turn means I never use it because I don't like to only post negative things for people to read. So now that Pete has his beautiful new food blog up I am going to try to create this blog as a space JUST for my 365 pictures, which flicker will enable me to post without having to be at the typewriter.

What is 365? It is a project to take one picture a day for the whole year of your life. From the exciting to the mundane. I have stayed on it pretty well, summer was a bit harder, but now that I will be out of the water more often I am going to get back on the horse and ride. Cause you know I really need to have 3 blogs, right?

Oh...speaking of 2005 I found the rules! They were lost for a while, and I need to add and modify...but at least I found them.
